Whither the Jews?: Making sense of the current moment. Arno Rosenfeld, who covers antisemitism for the Forward, will discuss the origins of contemporary antisemitism and walk through the conflicting evidence — from campus to Congress to Main Street, U.S.A. — on whether this is still a Golden Age for American Jews. He will also talk about the different ways that Jews are seeking to combat antisemitism, and how these contrasting approaches inform our understanding of Jewish safety.
Arno Rosenfeld is an award-winning investigative journalist at the Forward, where he has covered Jewish college students confronting hostile political climates on campus, local communities grappling with white supremacist propaganda, and the deep rifts among national organizations over how to respond to antisemitism. He won the Boris Smolar Award for Excellence in Investigative Reporting from the American Jewish Press Association in 2023 for his article on the experience of Jewish students engaged in Israel politics at George Washington University, and was a finalist for the Deadline Club Award in 2024 for his definitive history of Students for Justice in Palestine. Rosenfeld previously covered state politics for the Casper Star-Tribune, Wyoming’s statewide newspaper, and has written for JTA, The Times of Israel and other publications.
