Shin Bet Arrests Terror Cell Suspects
Israeli security forces have arrested a terror cell belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, it was revealed Monday, which is suspected of planning to carry out several terror attacks in the Jerusalem area and to abduct an Israeli soldier.
In a joint effort between Israel Police, the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet, the cell members were arrested during the planning stages of the attacks, having already recruited members and purchased weapons and silencers.
The Shin Bet had investigated some 20 people suspected of being part of the terror cell, some of which are residents of East Jerusalem and hold Israeli identity cards. Some of the people involved had already served time in Israeli prison after being tried for involvement in terror activities and carrying out terror attacks.
Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
