Obama’s Grandmother Hurt in Kenya Car Crash
President Barack Obama’s grandmother reportedly suffered minor injuries during a traffic accident in Kenya over the weekend.
Sarah Obama, 90, sustained bumps and bruises in the Saturday evening crash near the town of Otonglo in western Kenya, according to The Nation newspaper.
The driver of her car apparently lost control of the vehicle while trying to pass another car, police told the paper.
“When we came to find out what had happened, we discovered that a car had rolled and soon there were a number of police officers at the scene,” Dennis Owuor, who lives nearby, told the paper.
An official at Aga Khan Hospital told the paper that Obama was in shock when brought to the hospital from the crash.
Sarah Obama is the second wife of the president’s paternal grandfather.
