The Golan Heights and Mount Meron were covered in white on Saturday as Israelis flocked to the northern part of the country to witness the heavy snowfall.

In the Golan Heights, numerous intersections have been blocked for traffic due to the snow.

The director of tourism for Kibbutz Merom Golan, Shefi Mor, said that there has been persistent snowfall all day Saturday, and that all the guest houses are fully booked and filled with excited visitors.

In Safed, a storm overnight brought heavy rains, winds, and hail.

Moreover, roads in the upper Galilee have also been closed for traffic. Police warned drivers against the possibility of slipper roads due to ice. Israel’s ski resort on Mount Hermon was also closed down due to the snowfall, and was due to reopen on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Jerusalem residents were left disappointed on Saturday after weather predictions promised snowfall in the Israeli capital, but have thus far delivered nothing but heavy rain.
