Soldier Stabbed on Jerusalem Train
A 19-year-old Israeli soldier was stabbed Thursday while riding on the lightrail in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev.
The attacker, who stabbed the young woman moments before the train stopped at the station, fled the scene. The victim was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center by Magen David Adom rescue services.
Initial reports indicate that the assailant was riding on the train with the soldier, in the direction of Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem.
Moments before the train stopped at the Yekutiel Adam Street station in Pisgat Ze’ev, the attacker stabbed the soldier in her chest and arm and then fled on foot in the direction of Beit Hanina. Police officials arrived on the scene and began a search and are investigating possible nationalist motives behind the attack.
