Three Israel Universities Make Top 100 List
Three Israeli universities have ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide in a prestigious annual ranking of the world’s universities.
It is the first time that three Israeli universities are listed among the Top 100 by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Hebrew University was ranked 53rd, up four places from last year. Technion-Israel Institute of Technology entered the list at 78th place and Weizmann Institute of Science at 93rd.
Harvard University remains the number one university in the world for the tenth year.
Seventeen of the top 20 universities in this year’s survey by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China were American, led by Harvard, Stanford and MIT in the top three spots for the second year in a row.
Other Israeli universities also made the list. Tel Aviv University was ranked in the 101-150 spot; Bar-Ilan University and Ben-Gurion University were in the 301-400 spots.
Cambridge University in Britain was ranked fifth and Oxford was 10th. Eight American universities made up the top 10; in addition to Harvard, Stanford and MIT, they are Berkeley, Caltech, Princeton, Columbia, and Chicago.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University surveys 1,000 universities and ranks the top 500.
