Getting in and out of the parking garage could soon be easier for some New York drivers — thanks to an Israeli app.
The Israel-founded mobile parking payment system Pango launches its smartphone app today in New York’s Imperial Parking Systems garage chain.
Drivers can use the free Pango application for iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices to open the gate and start the meter when they enter a garage and pre-schedule their vehicle pick-up for a specific time. The garage parking fees are charged to the driver’s credit card.
According to the company, 89 percent of parking payments in Israel are made through the service, which is available in 38 Israeli cities and towns, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa.
