Israeli troops killed two people near the Syrian border, Israeli news sites reported.
“A short while ago two armed individuals were identified in the parameter of the border barrier on the Golan Heights, who attempted to sabotage the operational infrastructure in the border. In response to that, we attacked and hit the suspects,” read a statement that was posted Friday on the Twitter account of the Israel Defense Force’s official account.
A statement was not immediately available on the website of the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.
The online Hebrew edition of the Haaretz daily reported the two were probably killed. The news site Ynet reported they died and that the incident happened in the central region of the Golan Heights, near Qunaitra and Kibbutz Ein Zivan.
Earlier this month, four soldiers were injured, one of them seriously, from what the Israeli army said was an improvised explosive device that had been planted north of there, near Majdl Shams.
