Colorado Man Dies After Xbox Robbery Beating
A 30-year-old developmentally disabled Jewish man has died in a Colorado hospital from injuries sustained during an alleged robbery in his home last week.
Aaron Tuneberg died Tuesday. Boulder prosecutors have now filed felony murder-charges against two men being held in the case.
Tuneberg suffered serious head injuries from the attack that left him unconscious in his apartment, the Daily Camera reported earlier this week.
Suspect Luke Pelham, 18, said that accomplice Austin Holford wanted to steal property, including an Xbox, so that he could get money to leave Boulder.
According to court documents, Holford convinced Pelham to participate in the assault by telling him that Tuneberg had assaulted his girlfriend. Pelham allegedly reported the attack to 911.
Investigators recovered a golf club and bat discarded after the attack.
Police picked up Holford sleeping in a van nearby.
The killing is Boulder’s first filed homicide since 2011, the Daily Camera reported. Local Jewish activists said Tuneberg was Jewish.
