Palestinians March on Anniversary of Abu Khdeir Lynching

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Hundreds of Palestinians marched in eastern Jerusalem to mark one year since the murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, the Palestinian kidnapped and burned alive by Jews in the wake of the kidnapping and murder last June of three Israeli teens.
The march took place Thursday afternoon in the Shuafat neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem, where the family lives, the Hebrew-language website Walla reported. Participants called for a new intifada, or uprising, against Israel.
Eleven Palestinians were injured when Israeli forces attempted to quell the demonstration, the Palestinian Maan news agency reported.
“I’m not interested in clashes and don’t believe there will be any. I told people I didn’t want trouble, just a dignified ceremony with dignified people,” he said.
On Wednesday, the teen’s parents met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
