FIBD Angouleme, one of the world’s biggest and most prestigious comics festivals in the world, dropped Sodastream as their one of their 2016 sponsors.
This is a win for BDS, who has for two years in a row (2014 and 2015), petitioned the the organization to drop the Sodastream sponsorship.
Over 160 cartoonists have signed the petition over the year, including Ben Katchor, MacArthur “Genius” award winner Alison Bechdel (“Fun Home”), Sarah Glidden (“How to Understand Israel is 60 Days of Less”) and former Forward contributor Eli Valley.
Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
