Nine Jewish visitors were removed from the Temple Mount for violating the terms of visiting the holy site, including attempting to pray.
Some 800 people visited the Temple Mount on Sunday, including 685 foreign tourists and 115 Jewish Israelis.
Also on Sunday, Palestinians and Jews verbally clashed at the site. Among the Jewish visitors were right-wing activist Yehuda Glick, who survived a Palestinian assassination attempt in October 2014.
“We mustn’t allow terrorism to dictate what we do. I have confidence that the security forces will thwart any attack attempt or any attempt at violence. The Temple Mount is a center for peace, not a center for war. It is appropriate that anyone who speaks of unity and peace should visit the Temple Mount. Those who have a different agenda should not come here,” Glick said, according to Ynet.
Jerusalem police increased its presence around the Temple Mount and the Old City of Jerusalem for the Passover holiday, to prevent tensions and violent disturbances.
