Israel Police Clash on Temple Mount for Second Day

JERUSALEM — Muslim rioters and Israel police clashed for a second day on the Temple Mount.
The Muslim worshippers threw rocks, stones and firecrackers at police officers on the Temple Mount on Monday. The rioters had been stockpiling the weapons in the Al-Aksa Mosque and had barricaded themselves inside the mosque overnight, according to reports.
The Muslim rioters are protesting visits by tourist groups, including a small Jewish group, on the site that is holy to both Jews and Muslims, during the last 10 days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
In recent years, police prohibited Jews from visiting the site during the waning days of Ramadan.
It is the first real violence to occur at the site during Ramadan.
Israel Police said they dispersed the rioters.
