Sheriff Joe Arpaio Appears On Holocaust-Denying Website

Controversial former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio has been lying low since being pardoned by President Donald Trump last month, but recently Arpaio broke his silence — and granted an interview with a Holocaust-denying website.

In a September 15 interview with the American Free Press — titled “Arapio Bypasses the Fake Media” — Arpaio discussed his political ambitions, suggesting that he might run again for public office.

As Mediate reported, “the outlet Arpaio chose to grant an interview is sure to draw plenty of criticism.”

The Anti-Defamation League describes American Free Press as “an anti-Semitic conspiracy-oriented newspaper” published by Willis Carto, a man the ADL calls a “longtime white supremacist.” The site boasts a large store, where they sell titles such as “Made in Israel: 9-11 and the Jewish Plot Against America” and “The Holocaust Never Happened,” alongside others on subjects like the Illuminati and UFOS.

In this age of misinformation, our work is needed like never before. We report on the news that matters most to American Jews, driven by truth, not ideology.

At a time when newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall. That means for the first time in our 126-year history, Forward journalism is free to everyone, everywhere. With an ongoing war, rising antisemitism, and a flood of disinformation that may affect the upcoming election, we believe that free and open access to Jewish journalism is imperative.

Readers like you make it all possible. Right now, we’re in the middle of our Passover Pledge Drive and we still need 300 people to step up and make a gift to sustain our trustworthy, independent journalism.

Make a gift of any size and become a Forward member today. You’ll support our mission to tell the American Jewish story fully and fairly.
