On June 20, Israeli windsurfer Shahar Zubari won the gold medal at the 2009 R:SX European Championships in Tel Aviv. The Eliat native beat out French windsurfer Julien Bontemps, who had finished ahead of Zubari in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
