Madonna To Devote New Song to Kabbalistic Master
The Material Girl’s devotion to Kabbalah is well established, but now she is mixing Jewish mysticism directly into her music.
According to Fox News online columnist Roger Friedman, Madonna’s upcoming album, “Confessions on a Dance Floor,” includes a paean to 16th-century modern Kabbalah founder Isaac Luria. Titled “Isaac,” the song features a spoken interlude by Yitzhak Sinwani of London’s Kabbalah Centre. Madonna attends the center regularly. Originally raised in Detroit as a Catholic, the singer has become, in recent years, a disciple of the controversial mystical movement. She took on the name “Esther” and has drawn into the fold such fellow A-listers as Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, who are reported to have wed last week in a “traditional” Kabbalah ceremony.
Jewish mysticism or not, Madonna has a lot riding on the new album. “Confessions on a Dance Floor” is due to be released November 15 by the Warner Bros. Maverick label. The pop star is recuperating not only from a broken elbow in the wake of a recent horseback riding accident, but also from her worst-selling album ever, 2003’s “American Life.”
