EDITOR’S NOTE
An article in our August 19 edition, “Shul Dispute Nears End,” may unintentionally have created a misimpression about the circumstances surrounding the proposed sale by the National Council of Young Israel of a building in New York City. The article reported that the proposed sale was the subject of an investigation by the New York attorney general’s office, and noted that the sale has now been approved. It also reported that the initial proposed buyer of building was “rumored to have ties” to an official of the National Council. The rumors were reported because they were described by our sources as having been a factor at the time in the attorney general’s investigation. The report was intended to provide context for the account of the investigation. We did not intend to comment on the rumors’ veracity, and we have found no reason to believe that they were true.
It’s our birthday and we’re still celebrating!

We’ve helped five generations of American Jews make sense of the news and the world around them — and we aren’t slowing down any time soon.
