Shul Dispute Nears End
The August 19 article “Shul Dispute Nears End” erroneously reported that the National Council of Young Israel entered into a contract to sell its building for less than the assessed market value. In fact, the only thing the article should have stated was that before any deal was closed, the proposed buyer was attempting to sell the property for $2 million more than the purchase price. We regret the error.
An August 19 review of “Sholem Asch Reconsidered” referred to Asch’s play “God of Vengeance” as “recently retranslated into English by Nobel Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies.” Margulies is a winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, not the Nobel Prize, and his version of “God of Vengeance” is not a retranslation but a free adaptation that transposes the play’s action from Eastern Europe to the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

- Alyssa Katz, Editor-in-Chief
You are surely a friend of the Forward if you’re reading this. And so it’s with excitement and awe — of all that the Forward is, was, and will be — that I introduce myself to you as the Forward’s newest editor-in-chief.
And what a time to step into the leadership of this storied Jewish institution! For 129 years, the Forward has shaped and told the American Jewish story. I’m stepping in at an intense time for Jews the world over. We urgently need the Forward’s courageous, unflinching journalism — not only as a source of reliable information, but to provide inspiration, healing and hope.
