Amazon is hoping to strike gold twice with another show by critics-darling Jill Soloway.
Amazon studios “I Love Dick” based on Chris Kraus’s 1997 novel of the same name. The story revolves around a married filmmaker who falls in love with a theorist named Dick. Her pursuit of the man takes her away from her husband and on a journey across America. Kathryn Hahn of “Parks and Recreation” has been tapped to play the lead with Soloway directing and executive producing.
Soloway is best known for her work on HBO’s “Six Feet Under” and Amazon’s hit comedy “Transparent” in which a Jewish Los Angeles family deals with a transitioning transgender parent and his family’s identity struggles. The story has resonated with viewers and the show has five Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe awards under its belt.
Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
