Drake Sure Knows How to Celebrate His Jewish Momma

Rapper Drake really loves his Jewish momma.

Sandi Graham, a teacher, raised Drake (full name Aubrey Drake Graham) all by herself in Toronto after she divorced his father, drummer Dennis Graham. Drake says the divorce deeply impacted him: “I had to become a man very quickly and be the backbone for a woman who I love with all my heart, my mother.”

And while he admits he doesn’t call enough, the “Hotline Bling” rapper sure is a doting son.

Happy Birthday my love! Tonight is your night.

He often mentions her in his songs and he always listens to his mother, just like a good Jewish boy: “retired teacher/but your words still got me evolving,” he raps about her in “You & the Six”.

So when it comes to celebrating momma Sandi, Drake spares no expenses. Just look at this amazing birthday cake he got her for her birthday this Thursday:

I do this all for you. Happy Birthday my angel.

Are you one of our 2%?

Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.

But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses  —  take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.

Don’t just read the Forward — invest in it. Support our work today!
