Larry David Has Met His Match in ‘Maya & Marty’s’ Anti-Semitic (Yet Hilarious) Jiminy Glick

A latex fat suit, a double chin and some ridiculous anti-Semitic remarks had Larry David bellowing with laughter on Tuesday night’s premier of “Maya & Marty,” a new NBC variety show helmed by Maya Rudolph and Martin Short.
Sitting down for an interview with Short’s famous SNL character, cheeky celebrity reporter Jiminy Glick, David was giggly from the start as Glick leveled insult after insult, calling him a curmudgeonly Brooklyn phony with capped teeth.
“This is the famous Larry David anger, and are you filled with anger?” Glick asked when David shot back with his own taunts.
“Rage, Jiminy,” David said.
“Rage, what is it based on? Is it because, and let me phrase this correctly, because you’re a Jew?”
“If I hear one more anti-Semitic remark from your mouth…” David threatened, barely keeping a straight face. Before long, the two were hurling candy at each other, gifting us with this glorious GIF.
Trust us, watch the whole video, it’s very funny. Especially because it’s so rare to see David on the other end of the joke, enjoying a good side-splitting laugh.
Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
