במשך פֿון 20 יאָר האָט שלום־עליכם אָנגעשריבן מער ווי הונדערט דערציילונגען וועגן די יום־טובֿים, וואָס מע האָט געדרוקט אין דער ייִדישער פּרעסע. געוויסע פֿון זיי זענען באַלד פֿאַרגעסן געוואָרן. אַנדערע, אַזוי ווי „דער אתרוג“ און „שוין איין מאָל אַ סוכּה“, זענען יאָר אײַן יאָר אויס איבערגעדרוקט געוואָרן אין פֿאַרשידענע זאַמלונגען פֿונעם גרויסן מחברס ווערק.

אין „דער אתרוג“, וואָס שלום־עליכם האָט אָנגעשריבן אין 1902, דערציילט אַ חדר־ייִנגל, לייבל, פֿאַר וואָס ער וויל אַזוי שטאַרק האָבן אַן אייגענעם אתרוג. אַזוי ווי בײַ עטלעכע אַנדערע פֿון שלום־עליכמס מעשׂיות וועגן קינדער, גלוסט זיך דאָס ייִנגל אַ חפֿץ פֿאַרבונדן מיט אַ יום־טובֿ, לאוו־דווקא צוליב די זעלביקע סיבות ווי בײַ די דערוואַקסענע. די מעשׂה קען מען לייענען דאָ.
