Defense Suggests Suspect in Leiby Kletzky Killing May Claim Insanity
Lawyers for suspected killer Levi Aron suggested they may pursue an insanity defense in the murder of Brooklyn boy Leiby Kletzky.
Two lawyers claimed Aron is less than mentally capable, the Daily News reported.
“There’s a severe diminished capacity,” lawyer Gerard Marrone told the paper.
Lawyer Pierre Bazile added that mental health professionals would be needed to determine if Aron is fit to stand trial.
“His demeanor can only be described as abnormal,” Bazile said
Aron, 35, admitted abducting Kletzky after the boy got lost walking home from camp for the first time on July 11.
The 8-year-old’s body parts were found two days later in Aron’s refrigerator and a trash bin.
