U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will be in Israel the Palestinian territories next week in his bid to revive the peace process.
“These meetings are to follow-up on ongoing discussions as we continue to assess how best we can support the parties in getting back to the table and in having dialogue leading to peace,” said a State Department statement released Friday.
“We remain committed to working with the parties to achieve a lasting peace through direct negotiations,” it said. Kerry will visit Jerusalem on May 23-24. It will be his third trip to the region since he became secretary of state in February.
Kerry has said reviving the talks is a priority for the Obama administration.
