Israeli consular delegations told Jewish communities that consular services would be limited to emergencies because of a diplomats’ strike.
“There will be no consular services until further notice except life-threatening situations and burials in Israel,” said one statement, distributed by the San Francisco consulate and attributed to the Foreign Service Workers’ Association. “Phone calls will not be answered.”
Among other demands, diplomats are seeking better cost of living adjustments and increased compensation for families who travel with diplomats.
