After ‘Oven’ Gaffe, Mike Huckabee Plans Israel Trip

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee will arrive in Israel this week to raise campaign funds and discuss the recently signed accord on Iran’s nuclear program.
The former Arkansas governor will arrive in Israel on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press. A spokesperson saifd the trip would be “brief,” and did not provide further details. Huckabee is a frequent visitor to Israel, coming multiple times a year.
Announcing the trip on CNN Sunday, Huckabee said Iran is “not to be trusted.”
“We’re being pushed to get into a deal that gives us nothing, but gives the Iranians the capacity to ultimately end up with a nuclear weapon, and that’s just insane,” Huckabee said, according to AP. Most other Republican candidates also oppose the deal.
Last month, Huckabee drew widespread criticism for saying that through the Iran agreement, President Obama will “take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”
Negotiated by the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, China and Iran, the agreement lifts international sanctions on Iran in exchange for curbs and inspections on Iran’s nuclear program.
