Al Franken might want to stick to his current day job — you know, the one as a U.S. senator.
The former ‘Saturday Night Live’ comedian apologized for making a “stupid and insensitive” joke about Hillary Clinton having an affair with disgraced ex-pol Anthony Weiner, Politico reported.
Franken (D-Minnesota) made the stumble while discussing his anguish at a devastating preseason leg injury to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
“It’s like finding out Hillary’s having an affair with Anthony Weiner,” Franken said, according to New York Times reporter Mark Leibovich.
Franken quickly dialed back the yucks, admitting he should have kept his mouth shut.
Franken is a supporter of Clinton who was considered a dark horse candidate to be her vice presidential pick.
