Ivanka Holds Secret Meeting With Planned Parenthood
Ivanka Trump held a secret meeting with the president of Planned Parenthood just after her father’s presidential inauguration, Politico reported.
The first daughter’s meeting with Cecile Richards, who has led the national pro-choice group since 2006, came amid what Politico termed Trump’s “listening tour” of leading women’s groups.
“The main thing that Cecile Richards was doing was explaining that the money doesn’t actually go to abortions,” a Planned Parenthood executive told Politico. “We get reimbursed the same way a hospital does. We were clearing up misinformation about how this works.”
Since the secret meeting, Richards has been publicly critical of Ivanka Trump. “Anyone who works in this White House is responsible for addressing why women are in the crosshairs of basically every single policy we’ve seen in this administration,” Richards said, according to Politico.
