A man was arrested today in Jerusalem as he attempted to sacrifice a young goat, the Times of Israel reported.
According to the report, police apprehended the man walking with the goat down a street in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The sacrifice of a lamb or goat was a central part of the Passover holiday before the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in the year 70. Rabbinical Judaism replaced the sacrifice with symbolic acts.
According to the Times of Israel, the goat was given to the veterinary service of Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture.
