Palestinians March In Support Of Hunger Strikers
In the West Bank and Gaza today, tens of thousands of Palestinians marched in support of a hunger strike called by Palestinian prisoners, according to a Haaretz report.
Marchers clashed with Israeli forces in multiple locations, including outside a West Bank prison, where soldiers fired live ammunition at protesters, injuring 5, according to the Times of Israel.
Meanwhile, Israel placed jailed Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti, who called the hunger strike, into solitary confinement.
In a New York Times op-ed about the hunger strike published April 16, Barghouti wrote of being tortured by an Israeli interrogator when he was 18 years old.
