White nationalist broadcaster knows what’s behind the Titan’s sinking: the Jews

The cause of the ill-fated submersible Titan’s sinking is still not yet fully known to authorities, but some white nationalists believe they know what caused the catastrophic failure that claimed five lives: the Jews.
Stew Peters, an online broadcaster and podcaster who has previously pushed QAnon and Pizzagate conspiracy theories, promoted a fantastical theory during his broadcast on Thursday. While speaking with Zach Vorhies, a former Google employee turned fringe far-right media figure, Peters threw out his idea that the submersible’s sinking was “actually a ploy to keep people from visiting the Titanic wreckage.”

According to the progressive watchdog group Media Matters for America, Peters based this notion off the idea that “if people explore the Titanic too much, they would discover that it wasn’t an iceberg that sank the Titanic. There’s a lot of alternative theories about how that sinking occurred — that it was intentionally sunk as part of an elaborate insurance scam and even that it was sunk by a newly created Federal Reserve.”
Vorhies egged Peters on, throwing out a baseless claim that the Titanic was sunk by explosives.
As for why anyone would want to sink an ocean liner that was carrying thousands of people from England to New York, Vorhies said it was done because some of the rich families aboard opposed the creation of the Federal Reserve.
He added his belief that OceanGate, the company running the submersible trips to the Titanic’s remains, was “being funded by the Rothschilds,” the wealthy Jewish banking family that has long been central to antisemitic conspiracy theories.
“What they want to do is they want to prevent people from visiting this Titanic,” he added.
Peters repeated the lies about the sinking of both the Titanic and Titan on Twitter, saying “The Titanic ‘iceberg’ crash was as fake as the moon landing, and so is this ‘submarine’ story.”
In fact, there have been dozens of trips by crewed and uncrewed submersibles to the Titanic since the wreck was discovered in 1985. James Cameron, the famed director of The Terminator, Aliens, the Avatar movies and the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, has made over 30 trips to the wreckage via a self-funded submersible, releasing the documentary Ghosts of the Abyss about those trips in 2003.
Previous antisemitic lies that Peters has aired on his show include a theory that the Mossad was behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Peters has touted the presidential candidacy of Kennedy’s nephew, Robert Kennedy, Jr., who is a prominent anti-vaccine activist. He has also accused Jared Kushner of being a Mossad agent.
