Matzo and Memories
Everyone has a story to tell, and the makers of Streit’s matzos want to hear yours. The legendary Streit’s matzo factory, which has been operating in the same building for more than 70 years, is gearing up to leave Manhattan’s Lower East Side. In anticipation of the move, the matzo-maker is making a documentary to tell its story — and the stories of its customers. People of all ages are invited to the factory to share their favorite memories of Streit’s and of life on the Lower East Side. The interviews will take place on April 6 and 13, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment, interested participants should call 917-968-5505 or send an e-mail to [email protected].
A message from our CEO & publisher Rachel Fishman Feddersen
I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning, nonprofit journalism during this critical time.
Now more than ever, American Jews need independent news they can trust, with reporting driven by truth, not ideology. We serve you, not any ideological agenda.
At a time when other newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall and invested additional resources to report on the ground from Israel and around the U.S. on the impact of the war, rising antisemitism and the protests on college campuses.
Readers like you make it all possible. Support our work by becoming a Forward Member and connect with our journalism and your community.
