Rabbi Felipe Goodman

“I have worked as Rabbi Goodman’s assistant for nine years, and he has made a huge impact on my life. I had pretty much moved away from my Jewish roots over the years, but I was convinced by a colleague to come to shul one Friday night to hear Rabbi Goodman speak — and I was hooked. He is magnetic. I have witnessed congregants that were just beside themselves with grief come talk with the rabbi and leave with smiling faces. He has a way of making people feel better about life and about themselves. He is not my grandmother’s rabbi but a rabbi for modern times, a charismatic personality with a great sense of humor, humility and empathy.”

Why I became the Forward’s editor-in-chief
You are surely a friend of the Forward if you’re reading this. And so it’s with excitement and awe — of all that the Forward is, was, and will be — that I introduce myself to you as the Forward’s newest editor-in-chief.
And what a time to step into the leadership of this storied Jewish institution! For 129 years, the Forward has shaped and told the American Jewish story. I’m stepping in at an intense time for Jews the world over. We urgently need the Forward’s courageous, unflinching journalism — not only as a source of reliable information, but to provide inspiration, healing and hope.
