Shattered Globe Theatre presents an adaptation of the Academy Award-winning film “Judgment at Nuremberg” (1961), based on the screenplay by Abby Mann. Directed by Louis Contey, the play dramatizes the international war crimes trial of Ernst Janning, a prominent German judge played by Maury Cooper, three years after prominent Nazi leaders have already been tried. Doug McDade plays retired American judge Dan Haywood; Brian Pudil plays the American Army prosecutor; Brian McCaskill is the German defense counsel; Linda Reiter plays a sophisticated widow of a German general, and Scott Aiello plays a mentally challenged and sterilized Holocaust survivor. The play begs the following question: How culpable were ordinary Germans for the war crimes committed by the Nazis?
