Tea Party’s Allen West Could Be Vulnerable

A new poll shows Tea Party favorite Allen West (R-Fla.) could be vulnerable to a Democratic challenge next year in his Palm Beach-area district.

The survey says 42% of voters have a favorable opinion of the freshman Republican compared to 44% who view him unfavorably, reported the Broward Beat, a local political web site.

Just 13% had no views of West, who is a national media favorite as a veteran and an outspoken black conservative.

Most have extremely strong feelings about West. While 24% described themselves as having “extremely favorable” views of West, 29% said they were “extremely unfavorable” towards him.

In 2010, Allen West defeated Ron Klein, a Jewish Democrat, in District 22, one of several Florida districts considered up for grabs in 2012.
