Islamic Sex Guide ‘Fights Jews’ With Polygamy
Despite claims by its distributor that it is selling “like hot fried bananas,” an Islamic sex guide with anti-Semitic overtones has been banned by Malaysian authorities.
The 115-page “Islamic Sex: Fighting Jews to Return Islamic Sex to the World,” was published in October by the Obedient Wives Club, a pro-polygamy group believed to be an offshoot from the Al-Arqaam sect. Al-Arqaam was banned by the Malaysian government in 1994 for its allegedly deviant teachings. The club, which touts itself as being selective, is believed to have at least 800 members in Malaysia, as well as branches in Indonesia, Singapore and the U.K.
The book is reportedly an explicit guide informing young brides on how to satisfy their husbands in bed. “In it, the Obedient Wives Club argued that most women give their husbands only a fraction of their bodies and only satisfy 10% of their husbands’ sexual needs,” Celine Fernandez wrote in the Wall Street Journal.
The most controversial part of the book is its suggestion that men should have sex simultaneously with multiple wives so as to achieve a certain level of spirituality. The Wall Street Journal reports that members of the Obedient Wives Club maintain that this “Islamic sex” is “pure” and “based on love,” and that it “can be a fresh weapon against Judaism, which the group says promotes ‘free sex’ as part of a bid to take over the world.”
Fauziah Ariffin, president of the Obedient Wives Club in Malaysia, said she was not disturbed by the government’s ban. She reported that 3,000 copies of the guide had already been sold and that it had been well received. Also, the club’s vice president Rohaya Mohamad’s having told women to act like “first-class whores” in bed to avoid marital problems may have angered women’s rights activists, but it did not slow sales.
Ariffin claims her group will find a way to publish a sequel to the book, as well as distribute more copies of the first. Given the confusing syntax of the title, The Shmooze suggests changing it to the clearer and catchier: “The Orgy: A Secret Weapon Against The Jews.”
Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
