Photo EssayTwo-State Solution

1 / 5 Ted Cruz

Refused to endorse. "A one-state solution or a two-state solution is a question for Israel, and Americans shouldn't dictate the answers."

2 / 5 Bernie Sanders

Will work "tirelessly" to advance peace. "But to be successful, we have also got to be a friend not only to Israel, but to the Palestinian people." Peace will require "ending what amounts to the occupation of Palestinian territory," and "pulling back settlements."

3 / 5 Hillary Clinton

Supports a two-state solution. Believes that "despite many setbacks... peace with security is possible." Promises to advance a peace accord but "cannot be neutral" about Israel.

4 / 5 Donald Trump

Mixed views. Said he supports a two-state solution, but also that he won't commit to that idea. ["I'm not saying anything."] Trump is skeptical on whether a peace deal "is even possible." Believes Israelis "want to make a deal."

5 / 5 John Kasich

Only after Palestinians take steps. "I don't know how you get a two-state solution when people are walking into your country and stabbing people."
