Chipmaker Intel agreed to buy Israeli driverless car-technology firm Mobileye for $15.3 billion on Monday, positioning itself for a dominant role in the fast-moving autonomous-driving sector.
“Congratulations to Mobileye! Israeli genius, Israeli pride,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on Twitter after the deal’s announcement.
Mobileye N.V., which makes software and cameras that help cars avoid accidents, filed with U.S. regulators on Thursday to raise up to $100 million in an initial public offering.
