Israeli Arabs Protest in Front of Egyptian Embassy In Aftermath of Bloodshed

JERUSALEM — Dozens of Israeli Arabs protested in front of the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv following clashes in Egypt between government security forces and protesters backing deposed President Mohamed Morsi.
More than 200 protesters affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood were killed and more than 2000 injured throughout Egypt on Wednesday after government security forces raided two major sit-in protests in Cairo early in the morning.
Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and pro-reform leader, resigned in protest over the violence. Following the raids, the Egyptian government, led by interim President Adly Mansou, declared a monthlong state of emergency. A nighttime curfew has been imposed on Cairo and other areas of the country.
The protesters in Tel Aviv were joined by Knesset member Ibrahim Tzartzur of the Arab Ra’am-Ta’al party. “Our message is simple: We are here to condemn the attacks and the Egyptian coup in general,” Tzartzur told Ynet. “We are protesting against the bloodshed of those who protested quietly.”
