Ohio Shuts Down Trade Office in Israel
The State of Ohio’s Department of Development is closing its trade office in Israel.
The closure is part of cuts being made throughout the department’s global markets division, the Cleveland Jewish News reported.
The two-person Ohio-Israel trade office located in Tel Aviv worked with Israeli businesses that were interested in relocating to Ohio. The office, created by former Gov. George Voinovich in 1990, also assisted Ohio companies that wanted to export their products to Israel, the newspaper reported.
The state also is reducing the office’s staff in Columbus, the state capital.
Ohio also has overseas offices in Brussels, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Toronto, Mexico City and Johannesburg.
