Mom Admits Anti-Semitic Attack on Lovitz Pal
The California mother accused of taking her teenage daughter and two friends to smear feces and scrawl swastikas and ?Jew? on homes in the San Fernando Valley in an anti-Semitic vandalism spree pleaded guilty to her actions.
Catharine Whelpley pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor by driving the girls to the homes and was ordered to complete a year of parenting classes and 80 hours of community service at the Jewish Family Services food and resources program, The Los Angeles Times reported. She previously attended a Museum of Tolerance program with her daughter and written an apology letter to the victims.
In April, Jewish comedian Jon Lovitz used Twitter to condemn the anti-Semitic prank and find who was responsible for targeting his friend?s daughter. His friend?s parents were Holocaust survivors.
?The 3 girls who are bullying my friend?s daughter. They want to be known. Let them be famous as Jew haters. Pls RT,? he tweeted in April to his more than 27,000 followers, using the abbreviation for ?please retweet.?
The girls were not charged with hate crimes by police because, according to the reports, the damage was not permanent.
Lovitz also shamed the perpetrators on Twitter.
?I merely stood up for him. AND all Jews as this is how it starts. I didn?t make this an international story. The world did,? he tweeted in April to his more than 27,000 followers.
