New York Boosts Security After Bombing

Up to 100 New York City “critical response vehicles” have been deployed to New York City Jewish neighborhoods and around synagogues in response to the deadly terrorist bombing in Bulgaria against tourists.

There are no specific threats against New York Jewish venues, according to New York 1.

Wednesday’s explosion outside Sarafovo Airport in Burgas killed fiveIsraeli tourists, a Bulgarian bus driver and the suspected suicide bomber. More than 30 Israelis were injured. The Israelis had just arrived on a charter flight from Israel.

“It is a tragedy and I met with the Israeli ambassador this morning to get a briefing. The [police department] is all over it, both in Europe and in Israel and here, but you won’t see anything different,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Thursday according to New York 1.

Police in the city made similar moves in March following the murder of three children and a rabbi by a gunman in Toulouse, France.
