Debbie Wasserman Schultz Slams Donald Trump From Inside GOP Convention

Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz strongly denounced Donald Trump Monday in a live interview mere feet from the GOP convention stage as “the most divisive, bigoted, unprepared, unqualified major-party candidate that has ever run.”
Wasserman Schultz, who is in charge of her party’s convention next week, added that while it will showcase Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s strengths, the convention will also serve to solidify the 2016 election as a referendum of Trump.
The congresswoman hammered down on Trump’s past bankruptcies and mixed business record as well as his controversial comments and proposals, such as banning Muslim immigration and calling Mexicans rapists.
“I mean, this is a man who really has no concept of what American democracy or any concept of the Constitution and fairness,” Schultz, who is Jewish, said.
She also highlighted the unity within the Democratic party heading into its convention next week, which she said stands in sharp contrast to the infighting and absences at the GOP convention.
Not only is Ohio Gov. John Kasich absent from the convention being held in his state, but Wasserman Schultz also highlighted that three Republican members of Congress from South Florida also skipped the event.
“My three colleagues had no interest in being anywhere near this convention or associating themselves with Donald Trump’s toxic brand,” she said.
