VIDEO: Pumpkin donuts, lighter latkes and drinks to go with them

The donuts are made with vitamin-packed pureed pumpkin and the latkes are lo-carb, yet tasty and crunchy

Whether you’re planning a Hanukkah party this weekend or just enjoy watching cooking demos in the language of your grandparents, this video will show you how to prepare a menu that’s both tasty and nutritious.

Yiddish food scholar and chef Eve Jochnowitz prepares pontshkes (donuts) made of vitamin-packed pureed pumpkin, and Forverts editor Rukhl Schaechter adds carrots to her potato latke batter in order to decrease the starch content. Finally, former barista Leana Jelen shows you how to make delicious drinks to accompany these treats.
