VIDEO: Pumpkin donuts, lighter latkes and drinks to go with them

Whether you’re planning a Hanukkah party this weekend or just enjoy watching cooking demos in the language of your grandparents, this video – one of the very first episodes of the Forverts cooking show, “Est Gezunterheyt” (Eat in Good Health) – will show you how to prepare a menu that’s both tasty and nutritious.

Yiddish gourmet chef Eve Jochnowitz prepares pontshkes (donuts) made of pumpkin, and Forverts editor Rukhl Schaechter adds carrots to her potato latke batter in order to decrease the starch content. Finally, former barista Leana Jelen shows you how to make delicious drinks to accompany these treats.
