Romney Gets Holy

While the blogosphere buzzes with all things Hillary, it’s worth taking a moment to note that GOP contender Mitt Romney is currently making the rounds in Israel.

Sponsored by the Republican Jewish Coalition, the trip has the former Massachusetts governor meeting privately with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and other Israeli officials, as well as former Palestinian Finance Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad. Tomorrow, Romney will address the Herzliya Conference, an annual summit on Israel’s national security.

Romney’s trip fits in with a larger strategy to build support among prominent Jewish donors. Noam Neusner, a former White House liaison to the Jewish community, was hired by the Romney campaign in October, and earlier this month Florida heavyweight Mel Sembler was selected as one of 10 national finance co-chairs.
