Speaking Out Against Gun Violence
In the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings one week ago, a large number of performing artists have joined forces with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence to “Demand A Plan Against Gun Violence.”
Celebrities, including Paul Rudd, Amanda Peet, Rashida Jones, Sarah Silverman, Kate Hudson, Debra Messing, Elizabeth Banks, Max Greenfield, and Gwyneth Paltrow, appear in this just-released video exhorting their fellow Americans to demand that members of Congress and the president pass “common sense legislation” to prevent future tragedies. Such laws would involve requiring a criminal background check for every gun sold in America, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and making gun trafficking a federal crime, including real penalties for “straw purchasers.”
