Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein lost one index finger in the attack by alleged gunman, John Earnest, who shot with an assault rifle at close range.
“Your faith and courage are an inspiration to the nation,” Pence told Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, who was injured during a deadly attack at his shul.
“Through random acts of goodness and kindness, you create light in the world,” he said.
Gilbert-Kaye’s husband and daughter, who were in the synagogue during the attack by a lone gunman, filled in the final letter.
Four different cities saw anti-Semitic vandalism on Wednesday - not even including the attempted arsons on synagogues in Chicago and Boston.
