Shimon Peres Heads To Facebook HQ

Israeli President Shimon Peres may be 88 years old, but when it comes to harnessing the power of social media, he is right up there with the best — and youngest — of them.

AbbaNibi newswire reports that on Tuesday, Peres will be visiting Facebook headquarters in Silicon Valley to launch an international Facebook page. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, 27, will be on hand to greet Peres and to be the first to “like” his new page. Facebook will also broadcast a live chat between Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and the Israeli President.

The purpose of Peres’s new international page will be to promote peace worldwide. Facebook users, no matter where they live, will be able to view a special video that Peres will be posting on the page. The video, edited by Israeli social media maven Noy Alooshe, 32, will invite all citizens of the world to share ideas to promote peace.

The soon-to-be nonagenarian President could teach youngsters a thing or two about promoting oneself as well as one’s ideas and projects online. Peres has an official YouTube channel, and tomorrow’s events at Facebook will signal the launch of “Peres 360.” What this essentially means is that the President’s diehard fans can now have access to his activities in real time 24/7 (or more likely 24/6, taking Shabbat into account) through his official Israeli Facebook page.
