Liana Finck has been to Mmuseumm a few times. It occupies an abandoned elevator shaft in Manhattan’s Chinatown, and is beautifully lit and designed so that even everyday and garbage-grade items seem to belong to a heavenly realm. But the closer you get, the less magic they yield.

Liana Finck is the author of “A Bintel Brief: Love and Longing in Old New York.”
